1 Billion Shipped

More than 1 billion cell phones were shipped for the first time ever in a year in 2006, one factor for the large increase in sales was driven by a strong holiday season demand. And the two biggest suppliers posted strong gains to boost their market shares in the quarter, with number two Motorola closing the gap to industry leader Nokia on phones shipped. I wonder how many are internet ready or capable? And if the same trend stays what will happen to all those phones people trade in ? Even still with Moores law being broken by the chip makers we could see phones that are finally fun to surf becasue the speed will be there and if projection phones come out then viewing the phone should be fun as well. A roll out keywoard that could be plugged in would make the phone the new laptop. Should be an interesting year for the Mobile industry if it can produce a device like the one described above.
