Since I’m thinking about vacation plans, I’ll surf the net tonight while its quiet and see if I can get any other ideas for taking off this summer.
I know Wendy has used a site called TravelStoreUSA. She gets to travel a lot more than I do, so I trust her recommendations on where to go.
She goes on a cruise every year with some of her sorority sisters from UT. They’ve been all over the Caribbean and Mexico. I’ll be looking for something a little easier on the budget than what Wendy can spend.
I bookmarked a site for cruise specials and might find a deal there. So glad I have some downtime tonight to dream big and make plans!
Meeting the guys from Northern Trust got me thinking about all the fun times I’ve had in Chicago. I really love that city – if only it wasn’t so COLD in the winters, I’d seriously consider living there.
One of the best times I had was with a convention where I could break away on a Friday night. Several of the other people from my group said they wanted to go with me, but when I called to arrange the meet, all of them came up with excuses. So I got a cab on my own and headed out.
Found my way to some blues clubs on Halstead Street and had a great time. I’ve always wanted to go for the annual Blues Festivals – maybe this will be my year to go!
Dinner was great. We picked the Peking Duck House in Chinatown, on Mott Street, one of the busy main thoroughfares. Great food – loved every bite.
We sat at a table next to two guys in very nice suits. Eventually we all introduced ourselves and Jen invited them to join us. They are from Chicago, in banking, in NYC for a business meeting. Jen was sitting next to Bill, an executive with the company. I sat next to Tim, who turns out to be head of H.R.
Sorry to say I had not heard of their company, Northern Trust, but it sounds like an excellent place to handle money and investments. Tim gave me the link to their website, which I checked out as soon as I got back to the hotel. They have many special services for personal wealth management and even publish their own magazine, called “Wealth.”
Glad we got to meet these two gentlemen and hopefully we’ll have a reason to stay in touch.
Jen didn’t let us down. We wrapped up the meetings quickly and have plans to eat dinner in Chinatown.
We came back to the hotel to change clothes and freshen up. We are meeting downstairs in a few to share a cab to the restaurant. This will be great!Â
Hi there! We are taking a break. Found a Starbucks and we all whipped out our laptops to check emails and take care of business while we sip our lattes.
Jennifer set up two more meetings for this afternoon. I don’t see how we will have time for lunch unless we make great time driving across Manhattan. I’ll try not to think about, but I’m already craving a fresh salad and the thought of a pack of crackers to hold me until dinner couldn’t be less appealing.
Wonder if I have a vote about where we’ll have dinner or if we’ll be at the mercy of our clients at the last meeting? There are so many great places to eat in NYC. Don’t want to blow the opportunity with someplace mundane.
This is going to be a long day.
