We have had almost a solid week of rain, with everything completely saturated by now. It’s gone beyond puddles in the yards and parking lots – it’s now parking lots completely under water and roads being closed. There is a part of Nashville where the old money people live in the big estates that has a creek running alongside the highway notorious for flooding that area. Of course, the homes are all up on hills and are not in danger of getting swamped by the creek, but the roads into and out of those neighborhoods end up being closed due to high water, and there are only one or two roads with a good bridge for access. I’m sure that is a terrible inconvenience for the money folks used to having everything in their lives be just perfect, but I take a sick little satisfaction in knowing that even those folks have to deal with Mother Nature like the rest of us commoners.
