I spent about 3 hours and about $300 dollars toady shopping for Christmas gifts. I don’t understand how the “officials” come up with their estimate that the average family spends only about $400 each year on Christmas gifts. Who are all those cheapskates? Everyone that I know spends at least $600, sometimes well over $1,000 per family on gifts. And that’s not counting all the decorations, Christmas cards and over holiday furnishings like Christmas china, pot holders, hand towels, ceramic Santa soap dispensers, etc.

I only got started on my Christmas shopping. I’m sure I will be spending another $200 or more over the next couple of weeks as my shopping list expands. Oh, that reminds me – I need to get my cards addressed and in the mail ASAP!
