My son sent this picture of my Eric, my grandson, from the yard work at his house in ‘Bama.
I remember being a little girl and jumping into the huge pile of leaves at my grandparents house, back in Virginia. Their yard had so many trees that we had to go over and help rake leaves several times each year.
We would make a long row of the leaf piles along the street and then right before dark, Grandpa set them on fire. We spent many hours tending the burning leaves and talking – Grandpa, my Dad and us kids. Kinda miss those days. It’s just not the same stuffing huge plastic bags with leaves and leaving them at the curb for the county truck to pick up.
