Special K

There have been some tempting commercials for Special K on TV. They say that if you eat a bowl of Special K every morning for two weeks that you can lose enough weight to go down one size of jeans. That seems awfully quick to lose that much weight. But it sure is tempting.

Too Tired to Cook

I bought a small turkey breast with plans to cook it for a quiet Thanksgiving dinner, but I was too tired to deal with it. Instead, I went out to a local restaurant that features good southern homecooking and had a nice dinner. I can cook the turkey another time. The only thing missing is the leftovers. Maybe that’s not a bad thing, anyway.

Tricks and Treats

Tonight I must remember to stop by the grocery store and buy candies for the trick or treaters. I can’t believe that I haven’t even been to the grocery for over a week. I just haven’t been eating at home and haven’t felt much like cooking. It’s hard to cook for just one person.

I’m looking forward to seeing some cure kids tomorrow night and hope that we have good weather so the kids don’t have to cover up their costumes with coats or rain gear. So far it looks like the weather will be mild and no rain. That will be great!

New Sodas

Stopped at the corner market this afternoon on the way home to fill up the car at $3.09 per gallon. That’s pretty much the cost of gas anywhere in the Nashville area this week. They were having a problem with the pumps taking credit and debit cards, so I had to go inside to pay for the gas and get my receipt.

While standing in line I noticed a display in a little cooler with two unusual new flavors of sodas. One is Sunkist Float and the other is A & W Float. They come in glass bottles, which is also unusual. There was no price anywhere, but I’m sure they are in the $1.50 to $2.00 range, as all the other sodas are in that range.

The Sunkist Float is supposed to taste like a Dreamsicle and the A & W is supposed to be a typical root beet float. I didn’t succumb to temptation this time, but I suppose when the weather gets warmer and they are ice cold in a cooler that I will try one or both of them.

Meal Times

Most of the day I don’t even think about food and I wish I could just eat when I’m hungry. But our work and sleep habits don’t really allow for that. I have to get up at a certain ungodly hour to dress, eat breakfast and get to the office. Then we have meetings and dealines and other office worker convention that really require everyone in the office to take their lunch break between 11:30 and 1:30. I think 2:00 is the most popular meeting time set in our office, and that’s exactly when, if I haven’t eaten since breakfast, I get hungry. I’m not hungry at 11:30 but I force myself to eat.

Then when I get home from work I have to either get a very early dinner and risk wanting a snack right before bedtime, or have an after work snack and a much later dinner. A later dinner requires the preparation and cooking time that interferes with the priime time TV shows. So I can’t win!
